“Let’s pray, fast; not protest,” Fityanul Islam urges Nigerians

ASHENEWS reports that the Fityanul Islam of Nigeria has called on Nigerians, especially Muslims, to commit to prayers and fasting for God’s intervention, instead of the planned mass action against bad governance in Nigeria from 1st-10th August 2024.

In a statement by its president, Dr. Muhammad Arabi AbulFathi and Director of Media and Publicity, Sani Ibn Salihu made available to this platform on Tuesday, the group also described the planned protest “as an ill wind that will not benefit the nation.”

The group warned that “such protests are easily infiltrated and manipulated by unpatriotic elements, leading to potential chaos and a breakdown of law and order.”

They remind “Nigerians that the country has not yet fully recovered from the traumatic effects of the End-SARS protests.

“Fityanul Islam calls on all Muslims in Nigeria to abstain from joining these protests. Instead, they advocate for a period of intensive fasting and prayers, seeking Allah’s intervention in all mosques throughout the country.”

They “encouraged Muslims to recite the Qur’an a million times within 10 days and engage in countless Istighfar (seeking Allah’s forgiveness), emphasizing that prayer has been a time-tested solution to societal challenges from pre-colonial times to the present.”

The group also rejects the notion that the current challenges facing the nation are due to the Muslim-Muslim ticket on which the governing party was elected.

They argue that all previous administrations, regardless of their religious composition, have faced similar challenges, indicating that the Muslim-Muslim ticket is not the cause of today’s problems.

“Fityanul Islam warns Nigerians not to be deceived by chaos imported from other countries under the guise of protests against unpopular policies. We urge Nigerian youth to resist attempts to manipulate their emotions using the current hardship as a pretext to destabilize the country.”

The group called for prayers for Allah’s compassion to influence government policies and programs.

They also urged the government to strategically review all policies, especially those causing significant hardship to Nigerians.

They remind everyone that Allah never abandons the sincere supplications of His servants and pray for His merciful intervention in the nation’s challenges.
