The Managing Director of Nigerian Communications Satellite (NIGCOMSAT) Ltd, Mrs Jane Egerton-Idehen, says the agency has concluded plans to replace its satellite to ensure reliable service delivery to customers.
Egerton-Idehen disclosed this on Wednesday in Abuja on the sidelines of the agency’s Customer Service Week.
She said NIGCOMSAT had moved beyond operating a single satellite to building robust redundancies across its operations to guarantee service continuity.
“We just don’t have a satellite. We have a plan to even replace it and put up another satellite, and that’s one of the things we are going to do,” she said.
According to her, the agency has put in place power redundancy checks and multiple connectivity failover systems to ensure that when one system goes down, another comes up immediately.
Egerton-Idehen said the agency had created more awareness about its mandate and activities, which had helped to correct some wrong public perceptions about it.
She said it had also built a dedicated customer engagement team to proactively interact with customers, understand their traffic and address their needs.
“Today is a testament of how those things have changed. Customers across different segments now believe we can deliver quality and reliable service,” she said.
The managing director said that, beyond infrastructure, NIGCOMSAT had invested in staff training and new technology to improve customer experience.
She also said the organisation was focused on deploying connectivity to underserved areas to drive impact in broadcasting, broadband, healthcare, education and agriculture.
