The Sokoto state governor, Aminu Tambuwal has reacted to the G5 governors’ alleged meeting with the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu in London.
ASHENEWS reports that the five Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), including Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), Samuel Ortom (Benue), Ifeanyi Uguwanyi (Enugu), and Seyi Makinde (Oyo) have insisted that the party’s National chairman, Iyorchia Ayu must resign for someone from the South.
They were reported to have met with Tinubu to decide on supporting him as their preferred presidential candidate for the 2023 election.
However, Tambuwal in response to a question during a parley with journalists in Sokoto on Friday, said that although the party has every tool to sanction members planning to sabotage the interests of the PDP, it would not act based on speculation.
“These reports are all speculations. They have not declared their position; they have not taken stand.
“Until they take stand all that is being said is speculation and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) can only respond of they take stand.
“The PDP is a law-abiding party, and it would explore lawful avenues to bring any of its erring members to book.
“When the G5 governors resolve on their stand, the party will respond to whatever position they have taken,” Tambuwal said.
