2023 polls: How votes from 13 of 34 LGAs gave PDP victory in Katsina [SEE RESULTS]

#NigeriaDecides2023 – The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the winner of Saturday’s general election in Katsina State.

The state Returning officer, Prof. Muazu Abubakar Gusau, made the announcement early Monday morning.

Atiku polled 489,045 votes in 13 of the 34 local government areas to beat Tinubu who polled 482,283 votes in 21 local government areas, including President Muhammadu Buhari’s Daura local government.

According to Gusau, the total number of Registered Voters is 3,516,719 and the total number of Accredited voters was put at 1097,663.

The returning officer also disclosed that votes were cancelled in some parts of the state due to over-voting, violence, thuggery and insecurity.

The affected areas, according to him included Baure (1 polling unit); Danmusa (2 polling units); Daura (1 polling unit); Dutsinma (1 polling unit); Funtua (3 polling units); Kafur (12 polling units); Kankara (1 polling unit); Katsina (7 polling units); Kurfi (1 polling unit) and Kusada (1 polling unit).

Others were Maiadua (1 polling unit); Malumfashi (10 polling units); Mashi (10 polling units); Sabuwa (1 polling unit) and Safana (10 polling units).

Gusau said a total of 51,310 votes were canceled as a result of over-voting, violence, thuggery and insecurity.
