The Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee (LPPC) has approved the elevation of 87 legal practitioners to the rank of Senior Advocates of Nigeria, (SAN).

The committee under the leadership of Chief Justice of Nigeria, (CJN), Justice Olukayode Ariwoola approved at its 164th plenary session held Thursday.

The rank of Senior Advocates of Nigeria, SAN, is awarded as a mark of excellence to members of the legal profession who have distinguished themselves as advocates and academics.

Among those elevated are Nnodim Marcellinus Duru, Abubakar Adamu, David Dare Onietan, Baba Dala Fika, Abdu Adamu Fagge and Rilwan Umar among others.

Also, the meeting considered five petitions written against some of the applicants and determined that each of the petitions lacked merit and thus were dismissed.

According to a release signed by the Chief Registrar, Supreme Court of Nigeria and secretary of LPPC, Hajo Sarki Bello, from the academic applicant, Prof. Ganiu Oke Adeyemi was elevated to SAN.
