Prof. Kolawole Ogundipe, the Chief Medical Director of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido-Ekiti, has inaugurated the Clinical Governance and Capacity Building Committees to uphold effective governance and strengthen professional capacity.
The Clinical Governance Committee, headed by the Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC), Dr Adeyemo Olabisi, is tasked with promoting safe healthcare delivery and supporting clinical audits.
The Capacity Building Committee, chaired by the Deputy CMAC (Training), Dr Tope Kolawole, will focus on organising seminars and workshops to enhance staff expertise.
Ogundipe charged the committees not to leave anything out in their bid to contribute to improved healthcare delivery in the hospital.
According to the CMD, the committees were established to strengthen clinical governance, promote a safe and conducive working environment, enhance staff capacity and drive continuous improvement in the quality and efficiency of healthcare services.
He charged the Clinical Governance Committee to promote a safe environment for healthcare delivery, develop and implement relevant policies, support clinical audits and promote continuous improvement in clinical services.
He said the Capacity Building Committee is expected to organise seminars, workshops and quarterly hospital grand rounds to promote professional learning, knowledge sharing and improved clinical practices.
“The programmes will also provide opportunities for the review of clinical practices and promotion of improved patient care,” he said.
The CMD stressed the need for all hospital activities and procedures to be guided by clearly defined protocols.
Ogundipe urged the committees to be proactive in identifying issues capable of causing deficits, delays or disruptions in the hospital’s workflow.
This, he said, is to ensure that identified challenges are promptly addressed and that appropriate solutions are proffered to enhance efficiency and service delivery.
