Bauchi State government says it is concerned with promoting the health of its population through the introduction of many interventions especially as it relates to women of reproductive age.

Permanent Secretary Bauchi State Ministry of Health Ali Babayo stated this a meeting to review the state’s Costed Implementation Plan for Child Birth Spacing held at Jamil Hotel, Azare Bauchi, and supported by USAID IHP.

He declared that the health sector has witnessed tremendous improvement since 2019 when Governor Bala Mohammed was inaugurated as the Governor.

“The government has sustained a 15% yearly allocation to the health sector, and equipment of Primary health care Centres and has provided an enabling environment for International Partners to bring in their contributions.

The review of the Costed Implementation Plan is to establish and promote a unified strategic and coordinated approach to strengthening state regulatory systems for childbirth spacing service delivery, thereby contributing to the implementation of resolutions as the common objectives of stakeholders and partners.

He said for women and girls to have quality health care there is a need to have a Costed Implementation Plan that will help strengthen the implementation of childbirth spacing services in the state.

“To improve childbirth spacing services and to reduce the unmet child birth spacing services government is committed to coming up with key interventions that will improve the reproductive health of women of reproductive age.

“Access to maternal and child health is essential for women in the state to space their birth which is key to reducing maternal mortality”.

Babayo noted that the State specialist hospital has continued to provide health services to not only people of the state but also from neighboring states who come to access quality care.

“The hospital is state-of-the-art MRI, Dialysis, and Mammography services among others,”

He said for women and girls to have quality health care there is a need to have a Costed Implementation Plan that will help strengthen the implementation of child birth spacing services in the state.

Babayo then assured that the Ministry will continue to embark on and implement policies and programs that will further strengthen and improve the quality of healthcare services delivery in the state.
