Kaduna Speaker challenges NASS member on quality representation

Speaker of Kaduna House of Assembly, Yusuf Zailani has challenged a National Assembly, NASS, on quality representation for the people of Kaduna Central senatorial constituency.

Speaking in the Hausa language at a stakeholders meeting in Igabi local government of the state, the Speaker said the people of all constituencies expected dividends of democracy from their representatives because of the trust reposed in such representatives.

While chiding some politicians who he alleged go into hiding after electing them into office, Zailani said using facilitation of loans for constituents as dividend of democracy, was not an achievement but liabilities hung on their necks.

The Speaker, who was apparently throwing some political jibes at the Senator said, “You call me an illiterate while even you too can’t stand on the floor of the Senate and speak eloquently and since your election you have nothing to show that you did as a Senator.

“You got the Senate seat on a plater of gold courtesy of His Excellency the Governor and for which you have become ungrateful. If you think you are popular, come to your constituency weekly and open your constituency office and attend to people inside for three hours, if you can.

“You were never part of those who formed the APC in Kaduna in 2015; you only came after Governor El-Rufai won the primaries. You did not bring anything to the people of Kaduna central

“You have done nothing since your election as Senator other than deceiving people with loans; COVID-19 loan is not your constituency project. It Is an initiative by President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration for all Nigerians and you played no role in it. If you are rich, share your own money; do not claim credit for what you did not do.

“You claim to be a rich man, bring out N1 billion from your own pocket and share to your constituents in Kaduna central. If you think you are somebody, come back to Kaduna every Friday and attend Friday prayer publicly. So, stop hiding, stay in your house and attend to people,” the Speaker said.
