The board of the North Central Development Commission (NCDC), with Prof. Muhammad Bashir Nuhu, from Niger State, as the Executive Director, has been inaugurated. The Minister of Regional Development, Engr. Abubakar Momoh, urged the board to prioritise transparency and avoid corruption in contract awards.
Momoh stressed that the commission must focus on agriculture and mining sectors, which he described as key to the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Labaran Shu’aibu Magaji, thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for creating the commission and confirmed that Nasarawa has provided office space in Lafia as the NCDC headquarters.
He pledged full support for the newly inaugurated North Central Development Commission (NCDC) board, promising close collaboration to deliver development across the region.
A Nasarawa delegation, including the state’s Accountant-General, APC Chairman Dr. Aliyu Bello, and the Permanent Secretary for Political Affairs, Abubakar Mai Sudan, attended the ceremony and called on other North Central states to support the commission.
Women Affairs Minister, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, welcomed the board’s gender balance, while NCDC Chairman, Cosmos T. Akyhir, pledged that the commission will “hit the ground running.”
Nasarawa’s Aishatu Rufai Ibrahim and Dauda Shu’aibu Kigbu were named as Executive Director and member respectively, while Plateau’s Tsenyil Cyril Yilwatsen will serve as Managing Director.
