Centre for Peace and Education and Community Development, a non-governmental organization in Adamawa state has organized a one-day stakeholders town hall meeting on civil space and human rights.
The program, organized with support from Spaces For Change, an organization in Lagos trained the stakeholders to have a broad knowledge of human rights as a constitutional means to having a sound and civic environment.
Speaking during the event, one of the resource persons, Dr. Joseph Gimba defined civil space as a set of the legal condition experienced by a lived environment that enables people -whether alone or with others, physical or online to be active in their communities.
Gimba said that civil space has enormous challenges as not everyone can be able to fully participate for a variety of reasons.
He noted that the world over it is not free and some groups of people are being discriminated against and prevented from exercising their rights.
Emmanuel Ussa Kwache, another speaker at the event is another facilitator who harped on bringing the image of society to be built in Peace as it panacea to development.
Participants at the event included court Magistrates and lawyers, Traditional leaders, Vigilantes, Hunters Association, and CSOs.
