The Niger state Commissioner for Internal Security and Humanitarian Affairs, Mr Emmanuel Umaru, said the present administration will use every tactical ways to bring about a robust security in the state.
He said this during the 2023 budget screening by the House of Assembly Committee on Security and Intelligence in Minna on Wednesday.
Umaru explained that Gov. Abubakar Sani-Bello of Niger led administration had made remarkable efforts in enhancing the security architecture to effectively discharge their duties in the state.
He said that to strengthen internal security, the ministry had a budget allocation of about N500 million meant to purchase security gadgets for vigilante corps.
Other allocation the commissioner said was for installation of CCTV surveillance system around Minna, mitigation and response in 25 local government areas and other security activities across the state.
Responding, the Chairman of the Committee and member representing Lavun Constituency, Mr Jibrin Baba said that the screening exercise was to look at the proposed budget allocation of the ministry in 2023 budget proposal.
He added that the screening was for the commissioner to explain to the committee how the ministry which was new intend to access funds for mobilisation of various security agencies.
Also, Mr Ahmed Bello, member representing Agwara Constituency, tasked the ministry to put in more efforts in sourcing for funds for the state Security Trust Fund established to complement activities of security agencies in the state.
