Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have uncovered consignments of high-potency illicit drugs concealed in water purifier machines shipped from the Netherlands to Lagos.
The drugs, mainly 3 kilograms of ketamine and 199 grams of MDMA (Ecstasy) pills, were carefully hidden inside the machines and were seized at a courier company in Lagos on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.
In Kaduna, NDLEA operatives arrested a couple, Musa Sunday and Mercy Sunday, along with Salomi Ezekiel, 38, after seizing 100 jumbo bags of skunk weighing 1,246 kilograms from their home in the Gonin Gora area on Sunday, May 24. On the same day, operatives on patrol along the Abuja-Kaduna highway at Jere intercepted 30-year-old Sunusi Musa with 380 rounds of military-grade 7.62mm ammunition heading to Katsina State. The suspect and exhibits were handed over to the appropriate security agency.
In Niger State, NDLEA operatives raided a warehouse at Gidan Kukah in Bosso LGA on Wednesday, May 27, recovering 457 kilograms of skunk. A suspect, Godwin Zakka, 46, was arrested at his residence in Gbeganu, Minna, in connection with the seizure.
In Enugu, operatives on patrol along the Onitsha-Enugu Expressway on Thursday, May 28, intercepted a Taraba-bound commercial bus marked JAY-158-YF. A search led to the recovery of 22,000 tramadol pills, 100 ampoules of pentazocine, and 200 grams of bromazepam. Suspect James Maigari Wisdom was arrested.
Meanwhile, NDLEA Commands and formations across the country continued their War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitization activities in schools, worship centres, workplaces, and communities. These included lectures at Government Secondary School, Adiabo, Cross River State; St Patrick’s Memorial College, Wukari, Taraba State; Roman Catholic Mission Nursery and Primary School, Ibeju Lekki, Lagos; and Kings Secondary School, Amawbia, Anambra State, among others.
While commending the officers and men of the Kaduna, Niger, and Enugu Commands, as well as the DOGI unit, for the arrests and seizures, NDLEA Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), charged them not to rest on their laurels.
