The new variant Omicron is responsible for the resurgence of COVID-19 confirmed cases in South Africa, the country’s Health Minister, Joe Phaahla has said. He also pointed out that preliminary evidence suggested that there may be an increased risk of reinfection with this variant. Tanzania and Kenya have agreed to exchange roan antelopes and female black rhinoceros in a move aimed at boosting reproduction of the two species. Tanzanian President Samia Hassan said at the State House that Tanzania would offer Kenya 20 roan antelopes at a request by the visiting Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta. Sokoto state governor, Aminu Tambuwal has told president Muhammadu Buhari that the state is left vulnerable to the activities of bandits and required urgent action from the presidency.
