President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday night received former Sokoto State governorship candidate, Sa’idu Umar Ubandoma, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, days after the politician returned to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Ubandoma was presented to the President by the leader of the APC in Sokoto State, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, in what party officials described as a move to further strengthen the party’s ranks in the state ahead of future political engagements.
According to a statement issued by Bashar Abubakar, Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, President Tinubu welcomed Ubandoma back to the APC and assured him of his support as well as his full integration into the party.

The statement said the meeting was cordial and productive, with discussions centred on strengthening the APC and consolidating its progress in Sokoto State.
President Tinubu also urged Ubandoma to sustain a close working relationship with Senator Wamakko and Sokoto State Governor, Dr. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, to promote unity and advance the party’s objectives in the state.
Ubandoma, a former Commissioner for Finance and former Secretary to the Sokoto State Government, was the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the 2023 general election before later joining the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
He officially returned to the APC earlier this week, a development regarded by party leaders as a significant boost to the party’s political strength in Sokoto State.
