The Ebonyi state government on Wednesday suspended the Permanent Secretary of the state Ministry of Power and Energy, Mr Godwin Nwankwo over alleged persistent theft of diesel meant for streetlights. The Senate of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) has approved a revised academic calendar for the continuation of the 2020/2021 Academic Session. This is contained in a statement by Mr Richard Arifalo, the FUTA’s Registrar, on Thursday in Akure. The statement said that lectures leading to the completion of the First Semester would resume on Monday, while students would be expected on campus from Sunday. Russian News Agency, Sputnik, has trained 15 journalists from some African countries including Nigeria in furtherance of its commitment to promoting professionalism. The training is part of Sputnik’s Pro Educational Project for young journalists. The training is coming as part of Sputnik’s moves to establish a new operation hub in Africa and to strengthen cooperation with the continent. Kaduna state governor, Nasir el-Rufai on Wednesday, inaugurated a 120-tonne per hour fertiliser blending plant in Kaduna on Wednesday. The site is sited at the Kaduna Green Agro-Allied Industrial Zone (GAAIZ). The Kano State House of Assembly has passed the state’s Environmental Pollution Control Bill 2022, after it scaled through the third reading. The passage of the bill followed the adoption of a report presented by the Chairman, House Committee on Environment, Musa Kachako (APC-Takai). The house, presided over by its Speaker, Hamisu Chidari unanimously gave consent for the passage of the bill, after considering its provisions clause by clause.
