“When there is no enemy within, the enemy outside can do you no harm” – – Ancient proverb. “The Ides of March”, made popular by William Shakespeare in his book, Julius Caesar, is the 74th day in the Roman calendar, corresponding to 15th March. The brouhaha that has continued to greet the intended defections of political gladiators from the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) to the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State is entangled in a somewhat  acrobatic summersault, a melodrama of some sort of unimaginable proportions. Never in the history of the defections into the party has it generated this much ruckus that is threatening to consume some consummate party chieftains who are flagrantly imbued with mercantilist mentality and political miasma juxtaposed by a desire to maintain some political relevance against all odds. Superficially the unity and political stability of the…

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Saturday, executed 81 persons convicted for crimes killings and membership to militant groups. This is the largest known mass execution carried out in the kingdom in recent history. The executions have surpassed the toll of January 1980 mass execution of the 63 militants convicted of seizing the Grand Mosque in Mecca in 1979; the worst-ever militant attack to target the kingdom and Islam’s holiest site. It wasn’t clear why the kingdom choose Saturday for the executions, though they came as much of the world’s attention remained focused on Russia’s war on Ukraine. The number…

I came across an analogy of the Russia-Ukraine conflict in a Facebook explanatory message between husband and wife when they were preparing to retire to their bed. The wife said, “Russia is an aggressor for attacking Ukraine, a smaller country without “provocation”. The husband kept quiet and decided to pick a kitchen knife, which he placed on the bed in-between them. The wife commented, “is it not risky to keep the knife on bed between us when we are about to sleep”. The husband said that is precisely the answer to your accusation of Russia being an aggressor. Ukraine is…

They party is only a vehicle for their personal ambition and they are ready to move out to another party at any time if their own parties collapse due to their own reckless behaviour. The current crisis…
