The police in Bayelsa on Wednesday launched a ”discreet” investigation into the alleged killing of an undergraduate of the Niger Delta University (NDU), murdered by her soldier boyfriend. SP Asinmin Butswait, Police Public Relations’ Officer in Bayelsa in a statement said that Mr Mike Okoli, the Commissioner of Police, gave the order in Yenogoa. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), has recorded 154 new COVID-19 cases. The NCDC disclosed this on its official website on Wednesday morning. The new infections indicate a decline from the 161 cases recorded a day earlier. The NCDC said Lagos State, the epicentre of the deadly virus recorded 119 cases, followed by Akwa Ibom-11, Rivers-six, Ekiti-four, Ogun-four, the FCT and Gombe reported two each while, Kwara state registered one. “Our report include; five cases from Oyo state for July, 11,” it stated. Airstrikes by the Nigerian Airforce on Monday, killed at least, 120 armed bandits at Sububu Forest in Zamfara state, PRNigeria learnt. The airstrikes were executed, after some locals alerted security personnel on the arrival and movements of a large number of bandits within Sububu axis.
