Tourism Ministers from Africa have agreed to speak with one voice to let the world know that the continent is being unfairly treated in the area of COVID-19 Vaccines distribution. The ministers reached the consensus at a meeting in Sal Island, Cape Verde to ratify the agenda for their 64th Conference of United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) Commission for Africa. The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has denied allegation that it failed to remit 80 per cent of its operational surpluses into the Consolidated Revenue in the last five years. Dr Kingsley Obiora, CBN Deputy Governor in charge of Economic Policy, said this at the senate public hearing on 2022-2024 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) in Abuja. The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) says it has begun phase three tracking of over 118 Executive and Constituency projects worth N4.5 billion in Yobe. Mr Laban Emmanuel, ICPC Team Leader in the state, disclosed this on Thursday in Damaturu. He said the tracking started on Aug. 31 and would be concluded on September 12. The National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA)’s Integrated Farm Estate and fish villages in Borno are set to provide jobs for over 4,000 farmers, particularly IDPs returning home. The Executive Secretary of NALDA, Prince Paul Ikonne, said while on an inspection visit of the project located in Jere Local Government Area of the state. The Nigerian Army says the troops of the Joint Task Force, North East Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), have eliminated six terrorists and recovered cache of arms and ammunition in recent encounters in Borno. The UN International Labour Organisation (ILO) has said that four billion people live without any welfare protection globally to cushion the impact of COVID-19 pandemic, ILO stated in a new report on Wednesday that COVID-19 crisis had also pushed up government spending by some 30 per cent.
