The AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) Nigeria has opened applications for journalists to participate in a two-month project aimed at strengthening ethical and solutions-focused reporting on HIV and Tuberculosis (TB).
AHF Nigeria’s Senior Advocacy Manager, Mr Steve Aborisade, announced the initiative in a statement issued on Monday in Lokoja.
The programme, titled “HIV and TB Media Reporting Project: Amplify the Response,” will run from September to October 2026 across the FCT and Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Benue, Cross River, Kogi and Nasarawa states.
According to AHF, at least seven journalists will be selected to produce two in-depth, human-centred stories each during the project period.
Aborisade said the initiative sought to address stigma, misinformation and funding gaps, while promoting testing, treatment uptake and accountability in AHF-supported health facilities.
He said selected journalists would receive virtual training from the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA), the National AIDS and STIs Control Programme (NASCP), the National Tuberculosis, Leprosy and Buruli Ulcer Control Programme (NTBLCP), and senior editors.
Participants will also receive reporting grants for fieldwork, editorial mentorship and facilitated access to health facilities, state programmes and networks of people living with HIV and TB survivors.

AHF said priority would be given to women, persons with disabilities and community media reporters.
The organisation added that shortlisted applicants would be notified on Sept. 14, 2026.
