ASHENEWS reports that the former Niger state governor, Abubakar Sani-Bello has written to the state government requesting the suspension of his pension and allowances.
This is contained in a letter he personally signed titled “SUSPENSION OF MY PENSION AND ALLOWANCES” dated September 6, 2023, and sighted by ASHENEWS.
Now a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Sani-Bello in the letter contended that it is ethically, and morally improper to benefit from the state government and the Senate.
“I write to request for the suspension of my pension and allowances from the Government of Niger State for the duration of my service as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“Your Excellency would recall that I was inaugurated as a Senator representing Niger North in the 10th Senate on June 13, 2023.
“I deem it ethically and morally improper to benefit from my pension and allowances as the former governor of Niger state while I take emoluments as a Senator.
“This suspension should last until I give notice to the contrary after my service as a Senator,” the letter reads.
