Terrorists have attacked Yakila, Tegina, Kagara, Pandogari, Kusherki communities in Rafi local government area of Niger state, killed 25 farmers, and abducted scores of other people.
This comes a day after the killing of 13 members of the vigilante and abduction of many villagers in Kusharki village.
The attack reportedly took place on Saturday sometime around 2:00 pm across five villages.
A community leader in one of the affected villages, who pleaded to remain anonymous alleged that the bandits have resumed attacks in some villages in the local government.
He further alleged that the community was under siege by the bandits two weeks back as the insecurity persists.
Senator representing Niger East Senatorial District, Mohammed Sani Musa expressed concern that the bandits had resumed attacks on 4 local government councils; Rafi, Paikoro, Munya and Shiroro where were in his constituency.
The spokesperson of the State Police Command, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, who confirmed the attack, could not ascertain the casualty figure.
He, however, said police in collaboration with the military have been dispatched to Yakila, Tegina, Kagara, Pandogari, Kusherki and other villages to restore normalcy in the affected areas.
