ASHENEWS reports that Cross River State governor, Prince Bassey Otu, has directed the state auditor general, Mr. John Odey, to proceed on immediate retirement.
This is contained in a release signed by the Chairman, Civil Service Commission, Uko Inaku, with reference number CRC/P/25676/T./2, and dated June 2, 2023.
“Consequent upon the above, you are hereby requested to hand over to the Director of Administration who will oversee the office till further notice,” part of the release read.
The statement thanked Odey for his ‘meritorious service,’ while wishing him success in his retirement.
In a related development, Governor Otu also announced Prof Anthony Owan Enoh as the new Secretary to the state government and Emmanuel Ipole Ogbeche as the new Chief Press Secretary, a position his predecessor held for about 12 years.
Also on the list of new appointees are Hon Emmanuel Ironbar as Chief of Staff while Sylvester Otu Abang is to serve as acting state chief of protocol.
