An Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun on Wednesday, sentenced a 33-year-old man, Rasheed Usman to five years imprisonment for breaking into a house to steal a plasma Television and other valuable items valued at N300,000.
The Police charged the Usman, whose address was not provided with stealing, burglary, and malicious damage, for which he had pleaded guilty the charges.
In her ruling, Mrs. A O. Adeyemi sentenced the convicts to five years imprisonment without any option of fine.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp. E.O.Adaraloye told the court that the convicts committed the offenses on March 1 at about 7.00 p.m. at Araromi, Obasanjo area, Ota.
Adaraloye said that the convict broke into the house of the complainant, Obasi Peter, and stole a plasma television and other valuable items valued at N300,000.
He added that the convict also damaged the window and burglary the complainant.
The prosecutor said that the offenses contravened Sections 249(d), 390, and 451 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
