The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Defence and Deputy Chairman, Senate Committee on Anti Corruption, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, on Monday, in Zaria, Kaduna State, condoled the family of the late Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Shehu Idris.
Wamakko, a former governor of Sokoto State, described the death of the late Alhaji Shehu Idris as a monumental loss, not only to his family, Zazzau Emirate or Kaduna, but to the country as a whole.
Wamakko, who represents Sokoto North Senatorial District, said that, the late Emir had made invaluable contribution to peace, unity and socioeconomic development of Zazzau Emirate, Kaduna State, North and Nigeria, in general.
He prayed the Almighty Allah to grant him Aljannat Firdaus, as well as grant the family, people and government of Kaduna State, the formidable fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
The renowned Monarch, who was one of the longest serving traditional rulers in the country, died on Sunday, at the 44 , Nigerian Army Reference Hospital, Kaduna, after a brief illness.
He died at the age of 84 years old, after he reigned for 45 years.
The late Emir, who until his death, the Chairman, Kaduna State Councils of Emirs and Chiefs, was buried according to Islamic injunctions, at the family cemetery in Zaria, same day.
