The Zamfara state taskforce on banditry activities, has arrested suspected syndicate of fake motorcycle number plates and vehicular particulars.
Addressing newsmen on Tuesday in Gusau, the chairman of the taskforce, Abubakar Dauran said four suspects were arrested based on intelligence reports.
He gave the name of the dealer as Ibrahim Rututu, saying that over 30 fake motorcycle number plates and documents were recovered from him during the operation.
“During interrogation, the dealer confessed that he buys the fake number plates and particulars from Kaduna to the state.”
According to him, some of the suspects who bought some of the fake number plates and particulars were also arrested.
“It was following the investigation that the arrested suspects led the taskforce to the dealer where he was apprehended.
“We suspect that the dealers on fake motorcycle number plates and particulars were selling them to bandits for their nefarious activities”.
Dauran disclosed that all the suspects have made confessional statements and would be handed over to relevant security agencies for further investigation.
The dealer in an interview with newsmen said they sell the motorcycle number plates and documents between N1,500 and N2,500 each.
