Mr Lere Olayinka, media aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has confirmed the collapse of a three-storey building in Wuse Zone 4, Abuja, at about 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant to the Minister on Public Communications and Social Media, confirmed the incident in a statement in Abuja and said rescue operations were ongoing.
He added that officials of the FCT Fire Service were at the scene along with ambulances for emergencies.
Although no details have been provided yet on possible casualties, the spokesman disclosed that the FCTA Development Control had earlier sealed the building in the early hours of Monday and asked the occupants to vacate the premises.
