The Nigerian Army says its troops rescued about 180 students of the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation, FCFM, Afaka in the Mando area of Kaduna state, Daily Trust has reported.
The rescued students have been moved to 1 Division Garrison Command of the Nigerian Army in Ribadu Cantonment.
Reports say that the attack would have been worse if not for personnel of Nigerian Air Force and troops of 1 Division Nigerian Army Headquarters, Kaduna.
Daily Trust reports matrons in the school as saying that the bandits attacked the school through the back fence and abducted some male students before they proceeded to the female hostel.
“Another matron at the female hostel said the military engaged the bandits before rescuing 180 students while the bandits made away with others.”
Kaduna state Commissioner of Internal Security, Samuel Aruwan, confirmed the rescue saying, efforts are being made to get the remaining students.
