The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has dismissed reports claiming that a court order halted environmental services and food safety enforcement in the territory.
The FCTA Public Health Department, through its Legal Officer at the Health and Human Services Secretariat (HHSS), Barr. Idris Suleiman, described the circulating court order as “false in its entirety and completely misinterpreted.”
The department explained that the order, granted by Justice Yusuf Halilu of the FCT High Court in Motion No. M/7935/2026, only restrained further sittings in a suit filed by H-Medix Pharmacy Limited against the FCTA and six others.

“The ruling did not suspend or halt the overall enforcement activities of the Public Health Department,” it clarified.
The department urged residents and business owners to disregard claims suggesting a blanket suspension of environmental health enforcement and food safety court sittings in the FCT.
“The department remains committed to ensuring public safety by upholding the highest environmental and public health standards,” the statement said.
It added that its offices remain open and that court sittings for the prosecution of defaulters are still ongoing.
