The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Lagos State says it has completed the screening of aspirants seeking to contest elective positions on the party’s platform for the 2027 general elections.
The Chairman of the APM Lagos State Screening Committee, Mr. Abiodun Abari, disclosed this in an interview with reporters on Saturday in Lagos after the exercise.
Abari said the five-man committee screened the party’s consensus governorship aspirant, Prince Laja Adeoye, along with other aspirants for various positions.
According to him, the committee screened three senatorial aspirants, 24 House of Representatives aspirants, and 40 Lagos State House of Assembly aspirants.
He said all the aspirants were successfully cleared and would be affirmed as consensus candidates during the party’s primary elections.
“The screening was conducted seamlessly in line with the party’s guidelines. We cleared all aspirants because the party reached a consensus on all positions,” he said.
Abari added that the quality assurance process was important to ensure the party fields its best candidates for the elections.
“Only quality aspirants were presented as consensus candidates. Other aspirants sacrificed their ambitions for the greater good of the party and the state,” he noted.
He explained that achieving consensus was made possible through unity within the party leadership and members.
The committee chairman said the coalition between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the APM had strengthened the opposition’s chances in Lagos.
“With this alliance, the APM has become the main opposition party in Lagos State for the 2027 elections. This is the real alternative for the people,” Abari said.
Speaking after being screened and cleared, Prince Laja Adeoye said he had fulfilled all requirements of the Electoral Act and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) guidelines.
“I successfully presented all required credentials and submitted my completed Governorship Nomination Form. This marks another important milestone in our journey to reset Lagos,” Adeoye said.
