A fire outbreak has completely destroyed the Sokoto State office of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), razing property and critical documents accumulated over several decades.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday in Sokoto, starting around 3:00 a.m. and leaving the building in ruins.

According to him, the inferno rapidly engulfed the facility, destroying office equipment such as computers, printers, refrigerators, televisions, chairs, and vital documents spanning over 30 years.

Secretary of the NLC Sokoto State Council, Hamisu Hussaini Hamisu, said the fire was suspected to have been caused by an electrical spark.

He added that the security guard on duty could not contain the blaze as it spread quickly. Firefighters arrived about an hour later and eventually brought the fire under control.
The extent of the damage has been described as total, with no items salvaged. The incident has left the labour union in mourning as efforts to recover and rebuild begin.
