The Kaduna State Urban Planning and Development Authority (KASUPDA) has ordered an inventory of structures built under or near high-tension electricity lines across the state.
Abdurrahman Yahya, Director General of the Authority, gave the directive on Monday while receiving a delegation from the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) in Kaduna.
Yahya said the measure aims to address encroachments on transmission rights of way and prevent avoidable loss of lives and property.
He expressed concern over developments in restricted transmission corridors and reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to collaborate with relevant agencies to enforce planning regulations.

The director-general also urged TCN to intensify public sensitization—particularly through social media—on approved safety clearances for transmission infrastructure.
Earlier, the General Manager of the Transmission Company of Nigeria, Kaduna, Mr. Nasir Fada, said the visit was to seek regulatory support in tackling right-of-way violations and vandalism of its facilities.
Fada recalled past incidents in the state that resulted in fatalities and property damage, stressing the need for preventive action.
Both agencies agreed to strengthen collaboration to safeguard critical infrastructure and protect residents.
