Gombe State Governor, Inuwa Yahaya, on Monday signed the N617.95 billion 2026 Appropriation Bill into law after receiving the assented copy from the State House of Assembly.

The signing ceremony took place in Gombe in the presence of top government officials and members of the state legislature, led by the Speaker, Abubakar Luggerrewo.

Governor Yahaya said that over the past six years of his administration, the state’s resources had been prudently managed through effective budget implementation for the benefit of the people.

According to him, the scale of developmental projects executed by his administration reflects responsible resource utilisation, adding that he was prepared to account for the use of public funds at any time.

“I make bold to say that in the last six years, nearly seven, there has never been a period that has transformed the state to this level. We started with work and we will end with work,” Yahaya said.

He added that his administration would continue to prioritise hard work to help residents navigate current socio-economic challenges.

The governor also commended President Bola Tinubu for supporting Gombe State’s development through various Federal Government projects being implemented across the state.

Yahaya further lauded the Gombe State House of Assembly for its support, describing it as instrumental in ensuring good governance in the state.

Earlier, the Speaker, Abubakar Luggerrewo, recalled that the governor had presented a N535.69 billion budget proposal to the House on November 13 for legislative consideration.

He explained that after scrutiny by the Committee on Budget and Appropriation and subsequent passage by the Assembly, the budget size was increased by N82.26 billion.

“The total budget size increased from N535.69 billion to N617.95 billion, representing a variance of N82.26 billion. This increase was made in good faith and in the interest of the people of Gombe State,” Luggerrewo said.
