The Kaduna state government on Saturday said that an airstrike of Nigerian Air Force, neutralised bandits in Birnin Gwari and Giwa local government areas of Kaduna.

Mr Samuel Aruwan, Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs , stated this in a statement in Kaduna.

Aruwan said air platforms conducted armed reconnaissance over locations in the two LGAs.

The locations, according to him are: Gajere, Sabon Kuyello, Ungwan Farinbatu, Sabuwa, Kutemeshi, Dogon Muazu, Dogon Dawa, Kidandan, Sabon Birni, Galadimawa, Rikau, Yadi, Kuduru, Nacibi, Farin Ruwa and adjoining settlements.

“According to the operational feedback, bandits were sighted with herds of cattle just south of Galadimawa.

“They were engaged and neutralised by the crew.

Aruwan said similarly, bandits were sighted at Nacibi fleeing southwards on motorcycles.

“They were engaged accordingly and neutralised. A group of huts was also observed to be active with bandits, and was engaged with rockets. “he said.

According to him, all other locations covered were reported quiet with no suspicious activities, while contact was established with ground troops at Sabon Birni and Dogon Dawa.

The commissioner said Governor Nasir El-Rufai noted the feedback with thanks and commended the crew for a successful mission.

Aruwan said aggressive ground and air patrols would continue in the general area.
