The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) has constituted new leadership structures following the successful conclusion of its General Assembly, with the Sultan of Sokoto’s Media Team urging the new officers to embrace service and unity.
The Media Team of the Sultan and President-General of the NSCIA, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, welcomed the emergence and appointment of the new officers and members of the Council’s various organs.
In a statement signed by Prince Bashir Adefaka on Saturday, the team said the new structure provided an opportunity to strengthen the Council’s institutional capacity and deepen its service to the Nigerian Muslim Ummah.

The General Assembly, which held after several years without a full gathering of the Council, brought together delegates, scholars, traditional rulers, Islamic organisations and other stakeholders.
The Media Team commended the participants for their contributions, saying their involvement reflected the importance of consultation and collective responsibility in the affairs of the Muslim community.
It called on the newly appointed officers to approach their responsibilities with humility, dedication and wisdom, reminding them that the NSCIA serves as the umbrella body for Muslims across Nigeria.
The team also urged members and affiliates to support the new leadership and maintain the spirit of unity displayed during the Assembly.
It said the Council’s responsibilities extend beyond internal Muslim affairs to issues of peaceful coexistence, national development and responsible participation in the affairs of the country.
The Media Team said the NSCIA, under the Sultan’s leadership, had consistently promoted dialogue and peaceful engagement and expressed hope that the General Assembly would give fresh impetus to those efforts.
It congratulated the new officers and prayed for Allah’s guidance and strength as they begin their respective assignments.
