A total of 44 out of 252 students of Chrisland University, Abeokuta, were awarded first-class honours at the institution’s 7th convocation ceremony on Wednesday.

Prof. Oyedunni Sola-Arulogun, Vice-Chancellor of the university, announced that 133 students graduated with second-class upper division, 63 with second-class lower division, and 12 with third-class honours.

Prof. Sola-Arulogun expressed gratitude to the university’s governing council for its commitment and guidance, and acknowledged the support of the Ogun State government and the graduating students.

“To our esteemed graduands, success is not given; it is earned through consistency and courage. I salute your dedication and commitment. I encourage you to be exemplary leaders and ambassadors of this great institution,” she said.

She also highlighted challenges facing the university, including power supply, internet connectivity, student accommodation, and infrastructure.

Dr. Winifred Awosika, Chancellor of the university, attributed the institution’s growth and achievements to God and praised its commitment to academic excellence, discipline, and moral integrity. She acknowledged the board of trustees, past and current VCs, staff, and students for their support, noting that student enrolment has grown from 57 to over 1,700. She also highlighted the university’s strong performance in professional examinations, high-quality faculty, and efforts to foster staff and student well-being.

In his keynote lecture, Amofin Beulah Adeoye urged graduates to embrace creativity, self-discipline, and resilience as they transition to the next phase of their lives. “The world you’re entering rewards innovation, not imitation. Don’t wait for opportunities—create them. Use your knowledge to solve real-world problems, build communities, and inspire others to dream bigger,” he said.

Mr. Israel Popoola, the best graduating student from the Department of Criminology and Security Studies with a CGPA of 4.95, was recognized as the 2025 Valedictorian. Popoola attributed his success to hard work, consistency, divine grace, and the support of his lecturers, family, and friends.
