Kaduna Electric, KAEDCO, has approved the implementation of the company’s performance improvement plans to transform it into a world class utility company that delivers values to its customers and other stakeholders.

The chairman of the board of directors of the company, Yusuf Hamisu Abubakar disclosed during the opening of the company’s 2021 Strategy Retreat currently holding in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, said the board had set a three-year target for the full transformation of KAEDCO into the efficient electricity service provider that would be the pride of all.

”The story of Kaduna Electric is not much different from the story of Akwa Ibom State; starting from a modest beginning about 20 years ago, the State is today in the forefront of infrastructural development. We may have started on a rough footings, we must know that no challenge is insurmountable and we shall begin our match towards transforming the Company into what we want it to be from here”, he said.

Abuibakar charged the participants to leverage on the serene environment and atmosphere provided by the Ibom Hotel and Golf Resort, to deliberate constructively and chart a course that will enable the company meet its obligations to the Nigerian electricity market in a sustainable manner.

The Managing Director, Engr. Garba Haruna disclosed that the Federal government had provided the enabling environment for the Nigerian electricity supply industry for which no excuse shall be entertained for non-performance from any service provider.

”The government has acceded to the demands of the participants in the electricity value chain in terms of tariff and other enablers; it now insists that we must live up to our obligations to the Nigerian public in service delivery and to other participants in the market”, he said.

Haruna also disclosed that the supply industry has never gotten more support and encouragement from government and other critical stakeholders than now.

He charged all participants to justify the enormous support the sector is currently receiving by providing quality electricity service to the customers while not losing focus on the company’s obligations to the market.
