United Nigeria Airlines (UNA) has joined hands with Medplus to give customers special flight discounts, wellness benefits, and a smooth mix of travel and health services.
The two companies signed the agreement in Lagos this week. UNA’s Chief Operating Officer, Mazi Osita Okonkwo, said the deal is a partnership between two businesses that share the same values. He explained that the aim is to connect air travel with healthcare so customers of both UNA and Medplus can enjoy comfort, good health, and great value in one package.
“This is about service and shared value,” Okonkwo said. “We want to link air travel and health in a way that benefits everyone. With Medplus’ 150 stores across Nigeria, we can reach many communities with a trusted brand. And as we expand our flights within Africa and beyond, Medplus will be an important partner.”
Under the deal, Medplus customers will get special discounts on United Nigeria Airlines flights when they use a booking code that will be displayed in Medplus stores nationwide. In return, the airline will get brand visibility through Medplus’ wide retail network.
Efe Bakare, Executive Director of Strategy at Medplus and son of the company’s founder, Joke Silva, called the partnership a big achievement for both brands. “We worked on this for over a year to make sure our goals and quality match. It’s a win-win. Our customers get flight discounts, and UNA passengers get introduced to healthy living through Medplus. In the future, we might even work together on cargo and logistics,” he said.
Bakare added that the deal comes at the right time as both companies are planning to expand across Africa and beyond, making this a strong base for bigger projects ahead.
Ifeoma Ekwerike, Head of Business Development and Strategy at UNA, said the partnership will also help the airline get feedback from Medplus customers to keep improving services and passenger experience.
Other speakers praised the move, saying it will strengthen customer relationships and grow UNA’s reach. “With Medplus’ network and UNA’s strong reputation for good service and on-time flights, this partnership will bring value to millions of customers, linking healthcare, lifestyle, and smart travel in Nigeria and internationally,” Okonkwo said.
