The Gamaliel & Susan Onosode Foundation (GAMSU) has officially commissioned a fully equipped ICT Centre at Obele Community Junior High School in Surulere, Lagos.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Executive Director of GAMSU, Mrs. Toyin Olanrewaju, and made available to newsmen on Monday in Lagos.
According to the statement, the launch was held in honor of the Foundation’s late founder and in line with its mission to enhance educational infrastructure and promote 21st-century learning.
The facility, transformed from an empty room into a modern digital hub, is part of GAMSU’s Ideal Classroom Project, designed to create conducive learning environments across public schools.
The centre is equipped with work tables, chairs, ceiling fans, an inverter with solar panel installation, desktop computers, a projector, and a projector screen. The installed infrastructure aims to foster digital literacy and promote technology-driven education.
Obele Community Junior High School, established on January 6, 2003, is a government co-educational institution located at 82 Randle Avenue, Surulere. As of June 2025, the school serves about 983 students, most of whom come from low-income families within the Lawanson and Ojuelegba communities.
The Board Chair of GAMSU, Mr. Moyo Ajekigbe, represented by the Board Secretary, Mr. Spencer Onosode, said the project reflects the enduring vision of the late Mr. Gamaliel Onosode.
“This initiative bridges the digital divide, fosters inclusive education, and ensures that no child is left behind in the quest for knowledge,” he said.
Mrs. Toyin Olanrewaju, Executive Director of GAMSU, reaffirmed the Foundation’s unwavering commitment to educational equity and innovation.
“At the heart of this intervention is our belief that every child, regardless of background, deserves access to quality education and the tools to thrive in a digital world,” she said.
She added that the new ICT Centre is expected to significantly improve computer literacy among students and enhance teaching quality through the integration of digital instructional tools.
According to her, the installation of solar-powered electricity ensures reliable access to ICT resources, even during power outages.
“At GAMSU, we remain steadfast in our mission to promote quality education and equip the next generation with the skills needed to succeed in an increasingly digital world,” Olanrewaju added.
Representing the Lagos State Commissioner for Education, the Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary (TG/PS) for Education District IV, Mr. Olusegun Oshinaike, commended the Foundation for its intervention and commitment to educational advancement.
“Technology is an integral part of sustainable education. We are grateful to GAMSU for this timely support, which will strengthen digital learning capacity not only at Obele Community Junior High School but also across neighboring schools within the community,” Oshinaike said.
The Gamaliel & Susan Onosode Foundation (GAMSU) is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing quality education and youth empowerment across Nigeria. Through its Ideal Classroom Project, the Foundation provides infrastructure, learning resources, and digital tools that promote equitable access to education for all.
