The Society of Digital Newspaper Owners of Nigeria (SDNON) recently held an end-of-year gathering to celebrate the achievements of its outgoing Executive Council, led by Otunba Femi Davies, and to usher in the new administration under President Adeniyi Ifetayo.

The event, which attracted a broad spectrum of digital media stakeholders, highlighted the accomplishments of the 2022-2024 administration while unveiling the new leadership’s vision for the organization’s future.

In his address, the newly inaugurated SDNON President, Adeniyi Ifetayo, commended the outgoing administration for laying a solid foundation for growth and pledged to build on their successes. He outlined his administration’s commitment to enhancing member welfare and professional development through innovative programs.

“We are positioned to make a significant impact on the society, particularly in areas of welfare and capacity building,” Ifetayo said. “Our vision encompasses ensuring all-round growth for our members while maintaining the high standards set by the previous administration.”

Vice President Gbenga Shaba emphasized the importance of partnerships in achieving SDNON’s goals. “Our focus will be on fostering meaningful collaborations that will benefit all our members and strengthen our position in Nigeria’s digital media landscape,” Shaba stated.

2025 agenda

Seunmanuel Faleye, the society’s secretary, announced plans to release SDNON’s comprehensive calendar and itinerary for 2025 in January, reflecting the new administration’s dedication to transparency and organized leadership.

Kanyinulia Okeke, SDNON’s Public Relations Officer, described the event as both a celebration of past achievements and a platform for articulating the organization’s strategic direction under its new leadership.

The transition marks a pivotal moment for SDNON as it adapts to the evolving digital journalism landscape in Nigeria. With a renewed focus on professional development and member welfare, the new administration aims to ensure that SDNON remains at the forefront of digital media innovation in the country.

As SDNON charts its course for the future, stakeholders expressed optimism about the society’s capacity to drive positive change and maintain its influence within the Nigerian digital journalism ecosystem.
