The Universal Peace Federation (UPF) has awarded Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, Founder and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the New Nigeria Peoples’ Party (NNPP), the title of Ambassador for Peace (AFP).
The federation stated that the award recognized his efforts in promoting programs and projects aimed at transforming individuals and society, especially youths and families, to foster peace.
Dr. George Ikpot, the Secretary-General of UPF, announced this during the presentation of the AFP Awards to the recipients in Abuja.
Ikpot said, “We received a recommendation and reports from Amb. Cletus Amaraegbu about your activities and dedicated efforts in promoting initiatives that seek to transform individuals and society, especially youths and families, to realize peace. This led to your nomination to be commissioned as an Ambassador for Peace of the Universal Peace Federation.”
He added that UPF holds General Consultative Status at the United Nations and is a member of the United Nations’ Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
“UPF, with chapters in over 194 countries, was established to address the needs of our time. Its mission is to serve as a global movement of active, committed individuals, leaders, volunteers, and organizations dedicated to the well-being of the entire human family.
“This is guided by a vision for peace that transcends the interests of any particular nation, religion, ethnicity, race, culture, or civilization.
“We are all aware of the political, economic, and social conflicts affecting our nations and the world at this critical time.
“Despite these challenges and ongoing crises, this period also presents great opportunities for hope and vision for humankind.
“We believe this is possible, especially through the activities of individuals like you,” he said.
Aniebonam, also the Founder of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), expressed appreciation for the UPF’s honor.
He said he was pleased that the award would motivate him further in his efforts to promote peacebuilding in Nigeria.
