Niger State Coalition for African Democratic Congress (ADC) has been launched in Minna, the Niger state capital.
The party has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of presiding over worsening insecurity, failed infrastructure, and unfulfilled promises.
The Party during its inaugural coalition meeting in Minna warned that voters are losing patience.
The coalition meeting had in attendance, ADC leaders, leaders from other opposition parties and allied movements.
The meeting painted a grim picture of life under the current administration of Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago citing persistent banditry, collapsing hospitals, dilapidated schools, and rising unemployment as evidence of what they described as government neglect.
“Our hope has been betrayed and our future is in danger,” said Yahaya Gago, the Convener of the State Coalition Movement for ADC. “When the APC came into office, they promised improved healthcare, quality education, and security. Today, communities are disconnected, schools are in ruins, and farmers live in fear of attacks.”
Various speakers also accused the state government of failing to keep its word on key projects.
Comrade Murtala Dantoro recalled that the governor promised to refurbish a general hospital in Kagara by December last year but that “not a single drop of work” had been done.
Health facilities, the speakers said, remain under-equipped and understaffed, forcing patients to seek care in distant private clinics while education suffers from overcrowded classrooms, lack of buildings, and unpaid teachers.
Insecurity was described as a most heartbreaking tragedy, with kidnappings and bandit attacks forcing farmers from their land and parents from sending children to school.
The ADC pledged to address these issues with a people-first agenda prioritising security, job creation, agricultural revival, and functional public services.
The party disclosed that it is rallying opposition forces into a united coalition ahead of the 2027 elections, and will also contest this month’s by-election in Munya Local Government.
“This government has failed. Niger State deserves more than slogans. We deserve action, fairness, and leadership that keeps its promises,”said ADC State Chairman, Yahaya Mohamed.
