The Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kebbi State, retired General Aminu Bande has rejected the results that gave victory to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the recently concluded gubernatorial elections in the state.
Addressing newsmen in Birnin Kebbi, General Bande said that he, alongside the PDP in Kebbi will approach the court to reclaim their mandate.
Bande stressed that the judiciary being an unbiased umpire had given them the courage to approach it for justice.
According to him, the votes PDP polled during the election were genuine, credible, and verifiable.
He said “I thank all PDP supporters in the state for standing behind me throughout the struggle as such we will not let them down because we will explore all judicial means to get our stolen mandate back.
Meanwhile, Bande has also called on the Kebbi State Government to release some over 60 PDP supporters allegedly arrested during the elections and languishing in jails across the state.
This is as he urged the government to reinstate some traditional rulers allegedly suspended for supporting the PDP during the 2023 general elections.
“While appealing to our supporters to maintain peace and order, we are calling on the State Government to unconditionally release over 60 PDP members unlawfully languishing in various jails, pay withheld salaries of civil servants as well as reinstate traditional rulers suspended on the allegations of being our supporters,” Bande said.
