ASHENEWS reports that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on Friday announced the expulsion of seven members from the party, barely weeks before the 2023 general elections.

The party in a statement issued on Friday by the National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba said that the affected members were found guilty of anti-party activities and ‘other grievous offenses in violation of the Constitution of the PDP.’

The members include a serving senator representing Enugu State at the Senate, Chimaroke Nnamani, Chris Ogbu, Ajijola Lateef Oladimeji, Olayinka James Olalere, Fayose Oluwajomiloju John, Akerele Oluyinka, and Emiola Adenike Jennifer.

“The decision of the NWC is sequel to the recommendation by the National Disciplinary Committee and pursuant to section 58 and 59 (1) (g) of the PDP constitution (as amended in 2017.)

“The PDP charges all members of our party across the country to remain united and focused on the mission of our party to rescue, rebuild and redirect our nation from misrule,” the statement read.

ASHENEWS reports that the affected members were earlier suspended in January 2023 while they were being investigated by the disciplinary committee.
