The Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Bayo Ojulari, has alleged that his life is under threat.
He further alleged that the lives of those of the company’s management staff, were also being threatened.
He made the disclosure on Thursday while receiving a delegation of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), led by its President, Comrade Festus Osifo, at the NNPCL headquarters in Abuja.
According to Ngulari, the threats were over reforms in the oil and gas sector.
He revealed that powerful interests are plotting his removal as he pushes to revive Nigeria’s refineries.
Ojulari said the threats are linked to reforms he introduced in line with President Bola Tinubu’s mandate to revive Nigeria’s moribund refineries.
He claimed some powerful interests are plotting to oust him from office.
According to Ojulari, efforts are underway to restore the refineries to full capacity, with the management considering the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) operational model.
Despite the threats, the GCEO maintained his commitment to reforms in the oil and gas sector, stressing that the refineries must work.
“I’m not hiding from anybody. I’m not a politician. I will have to learn a bit more about politics, but it’s a development plan for me, and I’m ready to learn,” he said.
