A Dei-Dei Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, on Thursday ordered a 20-year-old man,  Bash Musa, to sweep court premises and a filling station for five weeks for stealing food items worth N200,000.

Musa, a resident of Kubwa Phase 4, Abuja, had pleaded guilty to trespass and stealing and begged for leniency.

The Judge, Mr. Saminu Suleiman, ordered Musa to clean a filling station at Kubwa for three weeks and clean an Upper Area Court at Kubwa for two weeks.

He, however, gave Musa an option of an N2,000 fine.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Mr. Chinedu Ogada, told the court that one Jane Odiase of Tungamaje, Abuja, reported the matter at the Zuba Police Station, Abuja, on Feb. 14

Ogada said that on the same date, at 7.00 p.m.,  Musa trespassed into  Odiase’s shop located at Tungamaje Zafele, without her consent.

He said that Musa made away with the complainant’s food items worth 200,000 but was caught and handed over to the police.

Ogada said that during the police investigation, Musa confessed to the crime, and the goods and food items were recovered from him.

He said that the offenses contravened the provisions of Sections 348 and 287 of the Penal Code
