Spain has emerged as the country with the highest percentage of bald males, according to a 2023 survey by Medihair. The study, which examined bald male pattern across different nations, found that 44.50% of Spanish men experience hair loss, making Spain the global leader in this category.
Italy closely follows with a baldness rate of 44.37%, while France ranks third with 44.25%. The United States and Germany complete the top five, with 42.68% and 41.51% of their male populations affected, respectively.
The data highlights a notable trend in European countries, as they dominate the top ranks of the survey. Croatia (41.32%), Canada (40.94%), the Czech Republic (40.90%), Australia (40.80%), and Norway (40.75%) also report significant levels of baldness among men.
While genetics remains the primary factor behind male pattern baldness, lifestyle choices, diet, and environmental influences may contribute to varying rates across different regions. The study does not specify whether cultural factors such as hair treatments or grooming habits play a role in these differences.
Interestingly, the United Kingdom, often associated with high baldness rates, ranks lower than expected at 40.09%, just behind New Zealand (40.19%). Meanwhile, Turkey (40.03%), a popular destination for hair transplants, is also within the 40% range.
On the lower end of the spectrum, countries like Argentina (29.35%), Malaysia (29.24%), and the Philippines (28.00%) report significantly lower baldness rates, possibly due to genetic differences and environmental factors.
With hair loss being a major concern for men worldwide, the hair restoration industry continues to grow, especially in countries like Spain and Italy, where demand for treatments remains high.
