The Rotary Club International, District 9127, says it has conducted free medical screening for 500 residents of Jos as part of activities marking its 121st anniversary.
Mr. Owolabi Folaranmi, Assistant Governor of the Rotary Club of Jos Tin City and State Coordinator for Rotary Day Celebration (RODAC), disclosed this on Monday in Jos.
He said the initiative aimed to promote preventive healthcare and support vulnerable members of the community.
Folaranmi explained that the screening was designed to help residents detect health conditions early and seek appropriate medical attention.
According to him, Rotary remains committed to humanitarian service and improving people’s wellbeing through community-based interventions.
Beneficiaries commended the Rotary Club for the gesture, describing the programme as timely, especially amid the rising cost of healthcare.

Miss Justina Abel, one of the beneficiaries, who spoke with reporters, commended the club for an impactful initiative that enabled people to know their health status at no cost.
Similarly, Miss Promise John said the free screening would allow indigent residents to check their health status without any financial burden.
She appealed for more organizations to replicate the gesture.
Mr. Godwin Yohanna, another beneficiary, said the exercise demonstrated the club’s genuine concern for the health of community members.
The free medical screening provided beneficiaries with access to basic healthcare services, including blood pressure checks, blood sugar tests, eye examinations, hepatitis and sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) checks, general medical consultations, free medications, and referrals.
