No fewer than 500 residents of Ijebu-Ode and neighbouring communities in Ogun State benefited from a free medical and eye outreach on Sunday.
The outreach was organised by the Mosuro family as part of activities marking the 2026 Mosuro Family Day celebration.
The exercise took place at the family’s ancestral home, which was temporarily converted into a medical centre for the programme.
Family spokesperson, Dr. Kolade Mosuro, said the reunion aimed to strengthen family ties and promote unity.
He added that the gathering also provided an opportunity to support the wider community through humanitarian service.
“We decided to preserve the legacy of our forebears by giving back to society through healthcare,” he said.
Mosuro said the services included general consultations, laboratory tests, dental treatment, and comprehensive eye care.
“A pharmacy was established on site to dispense prescribed medicines free of charge,” he said.
He added that specialists, including consultants, ophthalmologists, dentists, pharmacists, optometrists, and laboratory scientists, attended to the beneficiaries.
“Arrangements were also made for patients requiring surgery to receive such procedures free of charge,” he said.
The family had expected to treat over 500 patients during the one-day outreach.
“The programme was open not only to Ijebu-Ode residents but also to neighbouring communities,” he added.
Mosuro urged beneficiaries to use the prescribed medications properly and pay closer attention to their health.
He noted that healthcare remains costly and inaccessible for many Nigerians, hence the need for stronger community support.
Partner organisations supported the outreach with specialised screenings and medical assistance. They included Jasons Organisation from University College Hospital (UCH) and the Damien Foundation.
The organisations conducted HIV, tuberculosis, and pregnancy screenings during the exercise.
Chairman of the organising committee, Olatubosun Mosuro, said the family remained committed to humanitarian service.
“This initiative reflects our tradition of supporting the less privileged and serving humanity,” he said.
A beneficiary, Mrs. Aisha Adeniyi, thanked the family for approving free eye surgery for her daughter.
Another beneficiary, Mr. Rasheed Abiola, urged other Nigerians to invest in community development through similar initiatives.
