The Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KSCHMA) and the Integrated Child Survival Advocacy at the Last-Mile (ICSA) have reaffirmed their commitment to improving child survival and strengthening primary healthcare delivery.
The Executive Secretary of KSCHMA, Dr Rahila Aliyu-Muktar, stated this during an advocacy visit by the ICSA delegation to the agency on Tuesday in Kano.
Aliyu-Muktar commended ICSA for its structured, data-driven, and community-centred advocacy approach, describing the initiative as critical to improving healthcare outcomes in the state.
She said the agency remained committed to expanding access to affordable and quality healthcare services through innovative health financing and inclusive coverage for vulnerable groups.
According to her, collaboration with development partners and advocacy groups remains essential in strengthening healthcare delivery, accountability, and community participation.
“Partnerships like this are key to achieving Universal Health Coverage and improving health outcomes, especially for women and children across the state,” she said.
Earlier, the ICSA State Team Lead, Dayyabu Muhammad, said the visit aimed to strengthen collaboration to ensure equitable access to quality primary healthcare services, particularly at the grassroots level.
Muhammad said ICSA’s advocacy model focuses on community engagement, accountability, and evidence-based policy dialogue.
He stressed the need for sustained investment in primary healthcare systems, improved budgetary allocation, timely release of funds, and stronger oversight at both state and local government levels.
He added that ICSA interventions were designed to amplify community voices through field-based evidence and stakeholder engagement to ensure that policy decisions address real service delivery challenges.
Muhammad noted that aligning advocacy efforts with government priorities was essential to achieving sustainable impact in maternal, newborn, and child healthcare.
He said both organizations agreed to identify practical areas of collaboration, particularly in strengthening last-mile advocacy, integrating communication strategies, and supporting ongoing reforms in the primary healthcare sector.
The engagement is expected to strengthen multisectoral collaboration in addressing healthcare challenges and improving the well-being of residents in Kano State.
