The Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu in charge of North-Central on Community Engagement, Mrs Abiodun Essiet, says behavioural change among Nigerians is imperative toward ending the spread of malaria parasite.
Essiet said this during the official launch of the “Change the Narrative Now, Sub-National Conversation and Citizens Action on Ending Malaria in the North Central”, on Tuesday in Jos.
She said that though malaria is a preventable disease, many lives were lost due to the spread of the disease, particularly in children under age five.
The official also called for behavioural change among the people in the grassroots as regards the prevention of the disease.

“Behavioural acts such as keeping the surroundings clean and keeping stagnant water which serves as a breeding ground for mosquito vectors should be avoided
“Behavioural change will go a long way in changing the narrative as regards the preventable, yet vicious disease,” she said.
The presidential aide also advised Nigerians to regularly clean drainages around their homes and desist from dumping refuse on waterways.
